A Lotto Texas winning ticket estimated to be worth $16.25 million remains unclaimed after the lucky New Year draw over the weekend.
The winning ticket was reportedly purchased at RaceTrac #375, located at 1809 Justin Road in Flower Mound near Lake Lewisville, North Texas. The person who bought the winning ticket had selected the cash value option and will receive a prize amount of $12,660,841.60 before taxes, WFAA reported.
The winning numbers drawn were 1-16-19-39-42-46. The winner has not claimed the prize as of Tuesday, Jan. 4, and has about six months (180 days) from the draw date to claim the prize.
"If you have the winning ticket, we encourage you to sign the ticket, put it in a safe place, seek financial and legal advice, and call the Texas Lottery to schedule an appointment to claim the prize," Executive Director of the Texas Lottery Gary Grief said.
Meanwhile, 66,156 other Lotto Texas tickets won lower-tier prizes that ranged from $2 to $11,629 for the same drawing, KNUE reported.
In a separate report, South Carolina Lottery has stated that players in the state have racked up about $30.9 million in unclaimed prizes during the year 2021.
Since unclaimed prizes are not counted in the total until the lottery tickets get expired, the overall number of unclaimed prizes is expected to be much higher. Around 22,000 players in South Carolina currently hold tickets for prizes ranging from $4 up to $1 million, the Post and Courier reported.
“We don’t know the total unclaimed prizes until 180 days after the draw,” South Carolina lottery spokeswoman Holli Armstrong said.
In a similar but unrelated incident, a $2 million winning Powerball lottery ticket that was sold in Baltimore late last month remains unclaimed as of Tuesday, Jan. 4.
The winning ticket was reportedly bought at Sam’s Lobby Shop, located at 10 N. Calvert Street on Dec. 30, CBS Baltimore reported.
Four other Powerball players in Maryland also won prizes worth $50,000 from the same drawing. However, the four players have not claimed their prizes. The winning tickets were reportedly bought from Wine World in Abingdon, a 7-Eleven in Annapolis, a Sunoco station in Hagerstown, and a Marathon Gas station in Hampstead
Meanwhile, the winning numbers for the Monday, Jan. 3, drawing were 2, 13, 32, 33, 48 and the Powerball was 22.
