A 16-year-old employee from a local Arizona restaurant was reportedly shot dead after an argument at the establishment’s bathroom.
According to a report by Sergeant Vincent Cole, the teenager was identified as Prince Nedd.
The 16-year-old allegedly got into an altercation at around 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 2 at a McDonald’s outlet located near 51st Avenue and Baseline Road in west Phoenix.
The report goes on to claim that the assailant and the employee are known to each other. After the skirmish, the suspect reportedly fled the scene.
The deceased reportedly started working at the fast-food branch two months ago, KPNX reported.
Another employee at the fast-food chain confirmed that both the suspect and the victim were close. He arrived at the scene for his shift after the shooting.
"Like family," he said. "I did not expect to just show up to work and see a bunch of police tape like that. That is terrible."
Police claim that they have a person of interest but have yet to release details on the assailant as of this writing.
"There is a person of interest that we're looking for. We're not releasing too many details on the suspect at this time," Cole said in a report from CBS 5.
Police also added that no one else got hurt during the shooting. Witnesses are being interviewed as of this writing to determine what sparked that altercation and shooting.
The owner and operator of the branch stated the shooting incident, saying they were saddened by the unfortunate loss of their colleague and friend.
“We are saddened by the tragic loss of our friend and colleague. Our organization’s biggest priority is always the safety and well-being of our employees and customers at our restaurants. We are fully cooperating with the police department and their investigation,” Travis Heriaud stated.
