A 15-year-old girl who went on an early-morning jog was reportedly abducted and gang-raped by a group of three men inside a car in Ranchi, India on Sunday, Jan. 16.
On Sunday morning, the unidentified 15-year-old victim, accompanied by two other teen girls, had gone out for a daybreak jog. While the group of minors was doing their laps, however, three men in a car started stalking them. Before the teens could seek help the abductors forcibly kidnapped the 15-year-old victim, took her to a deserted spot, and began taking turns sexually assaulting her, the Indian Express reported.
The young victim's jogging mates quickly ran home out of fear. The brutal incident came to light later that morning after a passerby spotted the distraught victim left by the side of the road. The bystander immediately informed the authorities about the incident.
“The girls were out for a run (when) a car, with three persons in it, started chasing them. Two of the girls escaped but the third fell down. The accused abducted her,” a police officer explained.
One of the accused, aged 21, allegedly previously stalked the victim when she went to eat at a local shop an evening before the abduction.
After the accused kidnapped the teen girl, they reportedly admitted to stalking her for a few days before they decided to abduct and rape her because she had rejected one of the accused assailants' advances.
The police have registered a case against the abductors and have arrested all three accused.
In a similar but unrelated incident, a man identified as Lokchandan Sahu, 19, who works as a delivery boy for a Chinese restaurant, has been nabbed for allegedly sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl on the terrace of her building on Oct. 5, 2021, while he delivered orders in Mumbai, India, Latin Times reported.
Sahu, who was at the young girl’s flat to drop off a food order, asked her to step out of the apartment as he asked for directions for his next delivery address. However, he proceeded to manhandle the toddler and forcibly brought her to the terrace where he sexually assaulted the young girl.
The brutal incident came to light after the girl narrated the incident to her mother later that day. The mother took the girl to a police station and registered a complaint against the accused. Officers immediately launched an investigation into the incident and arrested Sahu on Oct. 6.
The police officers have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under Section 376 (rape) and 377 (unnatural offenses) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and appropriate sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
