Emergency services in Fort Worth, Texas responded to a call regarding a serious dog attack on Tuesday, July 20. The victim of the attack is a 14-year-old local girl who has not been named. She was mauled by the pit bull dog and had to be taken to a hospital. The dog was removed from the owner’s custody as Fort Worth police launched an investigation into the incident.
The Fort Worth Fire department arrived at the location in the 300 block of Emma Street just east of Downtown Fort Worth. They responded to an emergency call that was made around 3:30 p.m. The first responders found the injured teen at the scene.
The teen had sustained serious injuries to her face. There was significant facial trauma around her nose. Fox 4 News reported that a Medstar spokesperson confirmed the teen had been taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center. Her injuries were deemed as serious but non-life-threatening.
Fort Worth Fire spokesperson Mike Drivdahl stated that tensions were high since the attack involved a child. Police launched a search for the dog that was no longer at the scene when emergency services arrived. The pit bull dog was eventually located nearby the home where the attack occurred. Fort Worth Animal Control took the animal into custody.
There are conflicting reports regarding the ownership of the animal. Some reports claim that the dog was owned by the partner of a person living in the home where the attack happened. CBS 11 News reported that the dog was owned by the victim’s boyfriend. The dog’s owner has not been charged yet as the investigation continues.
Another victim of a pit bull dog attack had to undergo surgery to patch up his injuries.
Mark McDuff of Merseyside, United Kingdom was cycling when the attack occurred. The chef, following his regular routine, was on his way to work on Sunday, June 13 morning around 6:15 a.m. He claims that the massive dog suddenly latched onto him, taking him down from his cycle.
Shortly after the dog began mauling him, a woman pulled the dog away. She loaded the dog into her vehicle and drove away leaving the injured man behind. The woman, who presumably was related to the owner, called emergency services.
McDuff was left with severe injuries to his arms and legs. He had to be operated on to mend some of his injuries.
