Before marrying into the royal family, Meghan Markle has already made a name for herself because of her role in the popular legal drama series “Suits.” But her marriage to Prince Harry in May 2018 has even made her more popular that people want to know every small detail about her life, pleasant or not. For fans who can't get enough of Meghan, here are 13 interesting facts about the Duchess of Sussex:
1. Meghan isn’t her first name. She was actually born Rachel Meghan Markle.
2. She went to an all-girl Catholic school. “I went to an all-girls Catholic school for like six years during the time when kids actually had handwriting class,” she shared. It’s where her love for cursive handwriting started as well.
3. She was already a women’s rights advocate at a young age. Eleven-year-old Meghan saw a sexist Procter and Gamble commercial on TV and decided to write a letter to the company asking it to change the wording in its ad, and the company agreed.
4. She is a self-proclaimed “theater nerd” who also had love for politics, so she ended up double majoring in theater and international relations at Northwestern University.
5. In her junior year of college, she applied for an internship for the U.S. Embassy and ended up working in the embassy in Buenos Aires at age 20.
6. She worked multiple on-camera jobs to make ends meet, one of which was being a briefcase model on “Deal Or No Deal.”
7. Her neat handwriting got her to work as a freelance calligraphy writer. She even hand-designed invitations for Robin Thicke and Paula Patton’s wedding.
8. Back when she was an actress in “Suits,” she insisted on styling her own jewelry. “All the jewelry that I wear on the show is my own personal jewelry and family heirlooms, like my grandma's charm bracelet and my signet ring,” she told Marie Claire.
9. In 2015, she became a brand ambassador for Canadian retailer Reitmans. The brand launched a capsule collection of dresses co-designed by her in 2016.
10. She’s a food lover and an avid cook. A source told Entertainment Tonight last year that she often baked little treats for Prince George and Princess Charlotte when Kate Middleton was pregnant with Prince Louis.
11. She used to run a lifestyle-blog called The Tig. Her blog mostly featured content about food, travel, fashion and beauty.
12. She got convinced by Ellen Degeneres to adopt the Labrador/Shepherd mixed dog Meghan was checking at an animal shelter. She ended up doing it and named him Bogart. She also has an adorable beagle named Guy.
13. Her workout regime usually included running and yoga. “By virtue of growing up really outdoorsy in California, I love running,” she told Marie Claire. “And I do a lot of yoga, as well, so I think you just find that balance,” she added.
