George R.R. Martin may not be done with "The Winds of Winter," but the author is treating fans to an update on the book. The "Game of Thrones" author shared a new excerpt from the novel on his Livejournal page, along with the note that the book is still unfinished.

"We've [changed] the WINDS OF WINTER sample on my wesbite, replacing the Alayne chapter that's been there for the past year with one featuring Arianne Martell. (Some of you may have heard me read this one at cons)," Martin wrote. "You want to know what the Sand Snakes, Prince Doran, Areo Hotah, Ellaria Sand, Darkstar, and the rest will be up to in WINDS OF WINTER? Quite a lot, actually. The sample will give you a taste. For the rest, you will need to wait."

Martin added, "And no, just to spike any bulls--t rumors, changing the sample chapter does NOT mean I am done. See the icon up above? Monkey is still on my back... but he's growing, he is, and one day..."

In terms of content the chapter is pretty interesting as it features a plethora of characters who are either dead on "Game of Thrones" or have not been introduced into the series. The chapter follows the perspective Arianne Martel (who isn't in "Game of Thrones"), the daughter of Doran Martel (who is dead on the series) on her journey to meet with Jon Connington (not on the show), a member of the Golden Company who serves the son of Rhaegar Targaryen, Aegon (not on the show).

Martin has previously released "The Winds of Winter" chapters featuring Arya Stark, Sansa Stark, Tyrion Lannister, Barristan Selmy, Theon Greyjoy and another on Arianne Martel.

It is still unknown when "The Winds of Winter" will release. Martin's last episode, prior to this post, was in January, when the author announced the new book wouldn't arrive for the season six premiere of "Game of Thrones."
