Celia Cruz, Pitbull, Gente De Zona, Descember Bueno, are some of the most recognizable Cuban artists in the biz. New in town is Jacob Forever.
Born Yosdany Jacob Carmenates, Jacob Forever, is making the rounds with his smash hit single "Hasta Que Se Seque El Malecón," a song that has been dominating the Billboard Charts since its release over four months ago. Not only does the song continue to rise to the top of the Billboard Airplay Chat, but it has also spent two continuous months in the Top 10 of digital sales chart. The vibrant music video, which was filmed in his stunning hometown Havana, Cuba, has garnered nearly 6.5 million views, becoming an instant hit in cities such as Miami, Fla.
JF's success keeps escalating as he is the new signed artist with Sony Music Latin. “My team and I can now get our music heard in places where we weren’t as well known, and we strongly believe that we’ll be received with open arms. I’m very happy to be able to represent the new generation of Cuban artists," he said in a press statement, calling this milestone a "dream come true" on his social media. “We’re very excited to welcome Jacob to the Sony family. After years of hard work and dedication to his music, this is his moment and we’re thrilled to be part of it," said Nir Seroussi, President of Sony Music US Latin.
We celebrate JF's success with seven things to know. Spoiler alert, he was once in Gente De Zona.
1) Yup, that's right... he was a member of Gente De Zona for nine years before going solo in 2013.
2) He fessed up to Univision, that the first three months after separating from Randy and Alexander were the worst in his career because he did not want to split from the group.
3) Although he was not in the group when "Bailando" became a worldwide hit, he feels that he's also part of that accomplishment.
4) Jacob Forever is very successful in Latin America and Europe.
5) In fact, he's praised by his fans for having fun- and rhythm-filled concerts.
6) His only accounts on social media are on Instagram and Facebook.
7) His upcoming album will be his fourth studio album and his first with Sony Music.
