AMC wrapped up "The Walking Dead" sixth season with its finale titled "Last Day On Earth." While many were ecstatic with seeing Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the ultimate big bad Negan, more were upset with the giant cliffhanger left by the showrunners. If you didn't watch stop reading now as there are spoilers ahead.
In the finale, we seen Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group attempting to take Maggie (Lauren Cohen) to a doctor at the Hilltop Colony but are stopped at every turn by the Saviors. The end of the episode sees our heroes trapped and disarmed by the Savior group and we are introduced to their leader. As he explains why he's trapped them he ultimately reveals he will kill one of them. He chooses randomly, then attacks. Unfortunately, the camera shifts to first person and we only see the attacker and the show ends leaving the worst cliffhanger to date, reports Forbes. Check out the clip below.
While we are unaware of who Negan killed, we do know the seventh season will kick off with that discovery. But when will that new season begin?
As Den of Geek points out, the AMC series has traditionally premiered the Sunday of New York Comic Con or NYCC. This year, NYCC 2016 will run from Oct. 6-9 so this probably means the seventh season will premiere Oct. 9, 2016. We'll more than likely have more answers at San Diego Comic Con, which will take place this summer July 21-24.
Back in October AMC renewed the series for its seventh season. The network president Charlie Collier said, "Thank goodness someone had a Magic 8-Ball with them in our many long internal meetings about these renewals. When, on the third shake, ‘without a doubt’ filled the murky blue screen, we knew we had to proceed with new seasons of The Walking Dead and Talking Dead."
The executive continued, "All joking aside, we are so proud to share these shows with fans who have been so passionate, communicative and engaged. We are grateful for and continually impressed by the talent, effort and excellence on continuous display by Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple, Chris Hardwick and the many people with whom we partner to make these unique shows possible. The result: More Walking and Talking. Hooray."
