Soledad is a woman that because of situations in her life like having to give up her daughter in ‘adoption’ is very unhappy. This character is portrayed by the mexican actress Adriana Lavat in Tierra De Reyes. She suffers but within that suffering she is strong and with lots of love to give. Her character is very important in the story because of everything she knows and goes through during the storyline. However, there will be a point in her life that things will fall into place. She is a woman who has been very generous with her feelings and with the hopes that one day things will fall into place and she can be with her daughter. Latin Times spoke to Adriana Lavat about her role of 'Soledad' in Tierra De Reyes and challenges faced as well as what she loves about the project. Tierra de Reyes airs Monday thru Friday at 9pm ET on Telemundo.
Latin Times: Soledad’s character shows a lot of emotions. In one episode you can see many emotions at the same time we can see her sad, mad and some happiness. As an actress have you found challenging in anyway show so many emotions at the same time?
Adriana Lavat: Yes, it is a character that has showed me a lot as a woman and an actress. Before I use to think that a character that has no words and just showing action would be less work than a character who has words. However as an actress and experiencing this with the role of ‘Soledad’ it is twice the work to show and not speak. Soledad is a woman that has a lot of monologue inside. It surprises me each day that I am on set and being able to show all those emotions. I am very talkative and show emotions a lot with my face but this character has shown me how to be patient and just wait.
LT: Soledad is noble and has a lot of faith. Does Soledad have things that you can identify yourself as a person with your character?
AL: Yes, she is a person of faith and so am I. I have always believed in god and that identifies me with her. At one point in life we have all have to give up on something we really want for the sake of someone else's happiness.
LT: What do you like the most of working in this production?
AL: I love the project but at the same time it was troublesome because Soledad is 40 years old and so am I but the transformation to looking older than what I am was challenging. I decided to wear loose outfits, not much make up, and slick hair in a ponytail. But this project is a beautiful one and I am learning and enjoying myself each day. I love my children to see me and see that I am working on my mission. I love everything!
LT: Your character is very close to the Del Junco daughters. How is working with Ana Lorena, Scarlet and Kimberly Dos Ramos?
AL: They are all beautiful and very hardworking. The other day Kimberly posted a tweet and she said that she has a family within the Tierra De Reyes cast. I responded and I told her that I learn from them too each day. These girls are committed and very mature and it is a pleasure working with them and the rest of the cast they are all amazing talented people.
