"Queen of the South" was off the a great start with its premiere on June 23rd on USA Network. The 13-episodes series, which is an adaptation of the popular Telemundo novela "La Reina del Sur" starring Kate del Castillo, tells the story of Teresa Mendoza, a young girl from Jalisco, Mexico, who goes from being a woman who has nothing to becoming a wealthy queenpin.
We don't want to spoil the series, but we can tell you that in her journey, Mendoza, portrayed by Brazilian actress Alice Braga, learns from the best and a powerful woman called Camila Vargas, portrayed by Mexican actress Veronica Falcon.
In the show's second episode titled "Cuarenta Minutos," Teresa has to prove her worth to Camila. Meanwhile, Epifanio (Joaquim de Almeida) gets closer in his hunt for Teresa. Back in Mexico, Brenda (Justina Machado), desperately tries to find Teresa and hide from the cartel.

"Cuarenta Minutos" Episode 2 Description: Still reeling from the loss of Güero’s (Jon Ecker) and her escape to America, Teresa (Alice Braga) has to fend for herself and avoids being forced into prostitution by proving her worth to Camila (Verónica Falcón). Epifanio’s (Joaquim de Almeida) hunt for Teresa leads him to contact Camila. Meanwhile, in Mexico, Brenda (Justina Machado), desperately tries to contact Teresa as she and Tony (Adolfo Alvarez) evade Epifanio’s hit men.
"Queen of the South," starring Braga, Falcón, Machado, Gerardo Taracena, Hemky Madera, Peter Gadiot, with gues stars de Almeida, Miguel Perez, Caitlin Leahy, Adolfo Alvarez, Mark Consuelos, and Lobo Sebastian, will air its second episode "Cuarenta Minutos" at 10 p.m. ET on Thursday, June 30 on USA Network.
