Telemundo has honored the work of Pope Francis with the Telemundo Innovation Award. This accolade was for the pontifex's efforts with the Scholcas Ocurrentes initiative. The program is to connect, educate and inspire adolescents. The award presentation took place during a Scholas Occurrentes event attended by Pope Francis today at the Vatican.
The following attended the event: Manny Ruiz, founder of Hispanicize; José María Del Corral, director of Scholas Occurrentes; Borja Pérez, senior vice president of Digital and Social Media, NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises; and Peter Blacker, executive vice president of Digital Media & Emerging Business for NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. The award, granted by NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises and Hispanicize 2016, the largest annual event for Latino trendsetters and newsmakers in journalism, blogging, marketing, entertainment and tech entrepreneurship, honors an individual innovator whose work has explored new trends, showcased pioneering spirit and greatly impacted society. Pope Francis was selected for his innovative work with the Scholas Occurrentes Foundation, connecting technology with arts and sports programs in order to promote social integration in over 190 countries.
