A California man and Vietnam veteran by the name of Anthony Alvarez shoots his two adult daughters, killing one of them while his three young grandchildren look on.
Officials have told the media that there has been no information regarding a motive.
Alvarez's 8-year-old granddaughter called 911 and told police that there had been gun fire in the house. When police arrived on the scene they found Jennifer Kimble shot dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Her sister Valerie Alvarez was also shot and remains in critical condition. USA Today says she was flown to a hospital in Fresno.
After finding the two women shot the police discovered the body of Anthony Alvarez the man who shot his daughters. Alvarez was killed by a self-inflected gunshot wound.
Autopsies for all three members of the Alvarez family are scheduled for later in the week.
ABC News reports that "investigators do not doubt that Alvarez shot his daughters." Authorities say the case is cut and dry. ABC also reports that Alvarez's three grandchildren were not harmed and returned to their father who was at work when the shooting occurred.
