Justine Sacco is the latest viral sensation after she Tweeted some of the most offensive remarks on the social network. The Communications Director for IAC, an Internet media company who owns Match.com, The Daily Beast and Dictionary.com, is headed to the continent of Africa and made some unfortunate comments. "Going to Africa, Hope I don't get AIDS. Just kidding. I'm white!," she wrote. Sacco has not updated her Twitter since then but her employer has already released a statement after gaining infamy.
“This is an outrageous, offensive comment that does not reflect the views and values of IAC,” the company said in a statement. “Unfortunately, the employee in question is unreachable on an international flight, but this is a very serious matter and we are taking appropriate action.” No word if her account was hacked but earlier in the day she wrote, "Chili- cucumber sandwiches- bad teeth. Back in London!" In another message posted 12 hours before she wrote, "'Weird German Dude: You're in first class. It's 2014. Get some deodorant.' -Inner monologue as I inhale BO. Thank god for pharmaceuticals."
We could argue that her account was maybe hacked into, but if we go back on her time line she has similar messages. Take the message she wrote in February 2012 that reads, "I had a sex dream about an autistic kid last night." In another message she wrote on January 29 of this year she pondered, "I can't be fired for things I saw while intoxicated right?" Could it be that Ms. Sacco had a little 1 too many drinks as she was traveling or drank too many pills? All we know is that she is in for a big surprise once she lands in Africa and it's not going to be pretty for her.
