Steve Aoki surprised Mexican fans during the red carpet premiere of Fernando Lebrija’s new movie, “Guatdefoc.” The internationally recognized DJ signed autographs, took photos, and showed no inhibition when chatting with followers screaming his name outside the venue.
El Universal reports, the EDM star had a mind-blowing experience when he encountered a fan that looked just like him. “Oh my God!” he allegedly said when the girl approached him to gift him with a t-shirt that read, “Steve Aoki is my male.”
Aoki, who decided to celebrate his 20th anniversary in the music business on Aztec grounds, continuously expressed his excitement to be partying it up in Mexico and with its people.
“Today is a wonderful day,” he said. “I love the fans, they are crazy. Mexico is one of the best places to play, and I’ll be putting up together a small set in Estadio Azteca, for a radio concert where I will be playing my new single, and then I’ll throw a party to celebrate 20 years in the business.”
The 38-year-old California native also talked about his special appearance in the movie, which was shot in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and what it meant for him to be a part of this project.
“I feel the energy from all these people and I just want to spend a quick moment taking it in, Mexico is for this. I want to part of its culture,” Aoki told reporters. “To me, it was a great honor to be able to be a part of this film, I had very special, and fun times.”
This is not the first time Steve declares his love for Mexico. Last year, he became an honorary Mexican when he decided to change his repertoire a little bit during one of his concerts, and pleased the crowds with a remix that included some of the country’s greatest hits such as, Vicente Fernández’s “Por Tu Maldito Amor.”
