For those of you sitting behind a desk right now you may be disappointed to know that you could have slept in today. Each year on Jan. 3 the whole world celebrates the Festival of Sleep Day. It is the one-day a year where you are supposed to drop everything and just sleep in. If you are reading this on the north east coast of the United States there is a chance you would be sleeping in anyway as that part of the country is being hit with a herculean snow storm.
The rest of the country likely had to wake themselves up and drag themselves out of their nice comfy beds and head off to work and school. While you may be disappointed that you missed the Festival of Sleep Day, fear not is it Friday after all and you can make it up tomorrow, sleep past noon, have breakfast in bed and stay under the blankets all day binge watching TV shows and having your own personal Festival of Sleep Day.
In order to help you enjoy your day Latin Times has put together a list of 8 quotes about catching some Zs for the 2014 Festival of Sleep. (1) “Now I see the secret of making the best person: It is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth,” Walt Whitman. (2) “Silence is the sleep that nourishes wisdom,” Francis Bacon. (3) “Sleeping is not time wasting,” Sir William Penn. (4) “Every closed eye is not sleeping, and every open eye is not seeing,” Bill Cosby.
(5) “You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams,” Dr. Seuss. (6) “I love sleep, my life has a tendency to fall apart when I’m awake, you know?” Ernest Hemingway. (7) “Each night when I go to sleep I die. And the next morning, when I wake up, I am reborn,” Mahatma Gandhi. (8) “I’ve always envied people who sleep easily. Their brains must be cleaner, the floorboards of the skull well swept, all the little monsters closed up in a steamer trunk at the foot of the bed,” David Benioff.
