News about Pope Francis’s shocking allegations that Adam, Eve and hell as we know them do not exist, went viral. More specifically, he supposedly stated that through “humility, introspection and prayer, we’ve acquired a new sense of old dogmas. The church no longer believes in a literal hell where people suffer. That is incompatible with God’s infinite love. God is not a judge but a friend and lover of humanity. God doesn’t look to punish but to hug. Just like Adam and Eve, hell is a literary resource. Hell is just a metaphor for an ailed soul, which, like every other soul, are linked to God with love.”
After the long and detailed allegations surfaced, the Vatican was quick to respond with the following statement: “Dear friends some of our readers have pointed out false stories circulating the internet about Pope Francis saying the Bible is obsolete and that our way of seeing it is evolving… We won’t add more as you’ve probably gotten the idea.” The statement continued by saying, “Millions of stories circle the internet as it is very easy to throw the stone and hide the hand, therefore hard to tell where stories originate. But when news seem inexplicable or shocking, we invite you to question them and appeal to official sources to see if they’re there and in what context.”
Pope John Paul II once said that, “Hell is the absence of God,” and the Vatican officials also said that these allegations about Pope Francis are not only untrue but that he coincides with Pope John Paul’s definition of hell.
