Venezuelan producer Alejandro Ghersi, who goes by Arca and was born in Caracas, Venezuela. He attended the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU and is living in New York.Ghersi, has made a name for himself over the last few years, most notably producing tracks for Kanye West's "Yeezus" and FKA Twigs' "EP2" and "LP1."Ghersi gained the attention of music critics and publications after his work on Kanye West's latest album, "Yeezus," working on the tracks "Hold My Liquor," "I'm in it," "Blood on the Leaves," and "Send it Up." He also produced tracks for alternative R&B songstress FKA Twigs and is worked on producing Bjork's upcoming new album is now on Itunes after leaked. This album was previously scheduled to release to 24 hours on Itunes. These are ten things to know about Venezuelan producer Alejandro Ghersi:
1- When Ghersi was 3, his father, an investment banker, was transferred to a job in New York, and his family relocated from their hometown of Caracas to Darien, Connecticut, a suburban town off the Metro-North Railroad.
2- He studied classical piano, which he’d begun at the age of 7 and continued until he was 16.
3-At 17, he was admitted to the School of Arts & Sciences at New York University, and though he would ultimately go on to declare a major within Tisch’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music.
4- A couple years into college, Ghersi was living in Chinatown, immersed in the counter-culture romance of Tim Lawrence’s biography of the downtown musical innovator and gay icon Arthur Russell.
5-In 2012, he released three EPs on the UNO NYC label: his debut as Arca, Barón Libre, Stretch 1, and Stretch 2.
6- In 2013, he lent additional production on four songs from the Kanye West sixth studio album Yeezus, in which he also served as one of the three production consultants along with Hudson Mohawke and Young Chop and as a producer on FKA Twigs' EP2.He self-released the &&&&& mixtape for free, and was involved in an audio-visual performance of &&&&& alongside Jesse Kanda, who contributed the visuals, at MoMA PS1 in October 2013.
7- His debut album, Xen, was released on November 4, 2014 via Mute Records.
8- He worked on Björk's ninth studio album.The album was announced as Vulnicura during January 2015, with Arca serving as co-producer on seven tracks and co-writer on two.
9- Ghersi relocated from New York to London a little over a year ago.
10- His boyfriend is the photographer and multimedia artist Daniel Sannwald.
