The latest report from Breathecast on Wednesday morning, the "Attack on Titan" Season 2 release date allegedly moved ahead to April 2015. However, Breathecast was quick to iterate that the official air date will depend on the completion of "Attack on Titan" Volume 15 of the manga.
Obviously, the latest April 2015 is purely conjecture from the people at Breathecast as Wit Studios has yet to make any formal announcements regarding the status of "Attack on Titan" Season 2. That said, according to KpopStarz, an insider allegedly disclosed that production has already begun for "Attack on Titan" Season 2. This is significantly earlier than we thought, but if it is true, then the April 2015 air date can definitely be plausible.
Overall, "Attack on Titan" Volume 15 will not be released until sometimes in December. Earlier this year Wit Studios announced that "Attack on Titan" Season 2 development will not begin until Volume 15 was completed. Based on the original timeline, we believed Season 2 would air in August 2015. However, if it is true that Wit Studios abandoned protocol and had already begun "Attack on Titan" Season 2, then it is plausible for the new "Attack on Titan Season 2 release date to arrive in April 2015.
"The truth is, there's a good reason why Wit Studios isn't working on the 'Attack on Titan' season 2 premiere just yet," iDigitalTimes explained. "Even after just one series, the show has covered a pretty substantial portion of the manga-a little more than half of it, in fact. The key words there are 'a little more.' It stands to reason that the second series will cover just about as much ground as the first series. And that means, if it came out right now, the anime would pass the material in the books."
In the meantime, stay tuned as we learn more about "Attack on Titan" Season 2 in the months ahead. What do you think of the April 2015 "Attack on Titan" Season 2 release date?
