Watching her daughter, Sofía Castro, perform on stage in the play “Libre” at Teatro en Corto in Mexico has Angélica Rivera talking about a possible telenovela comeback once Enrique Peña Nieto’s presidential term concludes.
“Probably yes, but first I have to finish this job and maybe one of these days,” Mexico’s First Lady replied to reporters outside the theatre when asked if she would ever consider returning to the small screen.
Rivera, better known in the entertainment world as “La Gaviota,” added that being an artist is “a job you can’t forget” and testified she “will never stop being an actress.”
The former telenovela star mentioned that she still has a strong fan base that continues to praise her work, and is hoping for her to go back and do what she loves the most. “A lot of people asks me to come back, so I’m saying yes, in a couple of years,” she confirmed.
The proud mother didn’t leave the media before sharing how she felt after watching her daughter following her steps. “I feel very proud of her, she is doing a wonderful job next to her scene partner [David Anguiano], and I am so glad that Mexico is supporting this type of theatre, which just started a year and a half ago,” she stated.
Rivera and her daughter Sofía, product of her previous marriage to telenovela director and producer José Alberto Castro, seem to have a very strong bond and share a lot of similarities.
“My mom is everything, she is my best friend,” Sofía said during an interview with El Reforma last November. “She supports me in everything I do, when I fight with my friends, when I work, when I’m stressed (…) What can I tell you? My mom is the best mom in the world, I admire her a lot, her work, and also, I look like her!”
