The long-awaited Android 5.0.1 Lollipop over-the-air (OTA) update is finally available on flagship Android devices. While the auto-OTA is expected to reach phones in phases over the next two weeks, anxious HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 users can manually download the latest Android OS now.
Please be aware that the following download instructions apply to the HTC One M8 and One M7 GSM devices only. What's more, be sure that the phone is charged to at least 60 percent. Finally, set the phone to S-OFF mode.
Here are the instructions to manually installing Android 5.0.1 Lollipop:
Download Android 5.0.1 for HTC One M8

1: Click on the appropriate link above to download the Android 5.0.1 update to your PC. Rename the file to lollipop.zip.
2: Copy the lollipop.zip file to your for your HTC One's internal storage .
3: Restart your phone in stock recovery by following these instructions: Turn off the phone and then press and hold Volume Down key along with the Power button until the Fastboot menu appears on screen.
4: Use volume keys to navigate and highlight Recovery option, and then hit Power key to confirm selection.
5: Your device should now reboot and you will see a red Android logo with an exclamation mark on the screen. Hit the Volume Up key followed by the Power button to progress into the stock recovery.
6: Use Volume keys to choose 'Apply from phone storage' option and then select the Lollipop OTA file which you copied earlier in Step 2. Then hit the Power button to confirm selection and wait until the installation completes.
7: Select Reboot System Now option when update is complete. Now, boot the newly installed Android 5.0.1 firmware on your HTC One. The first boot may take some time (up to 10 minutes). Do not interrupt the reboot process!
